How Can Spiritual Self-Mastery Benefit Me?
This powerful statement implies that each of us adjusts our level of consciousness and creative potential to the limited experience of our conditioned beliefs regarding the world. Beliefs are defined as a state of mind in which we trust, have confidence and conviction. Just having a belief presupposes that we will act in ways to allow it full expression. So, what happens when we believe that the world is lacking, unsafe, dangerous, unloving and unforgiving? The result is that we develop certain defensive coping strategies to validate our beliefs. We don the mask of our convictions and begin designing defense mechanisms to compete for the things we believe that we lack. In so doing, we enter into the realm of illusion, or delusion. We are no longer living the highest expression of our true being, self-secure and abundant in all ways.
The spiritual master lives life with the conscious aim to walk with fear, not to dispel, avoid, or ignore it. Instead, starting from the fresh perspective of being alert to your fears, you begin to regard them as traveling companions on your journey. These traveling companions provide important clues and opportunities in deciphering where the negative focus of attention has been limiting the true expression of your highest self. Here, in the mastery of your fears, you begin to distinguish the fear-based ego from your authentic essence, aligning the ego with spirit. No longer slaves, masterfully appeasing our fears, we become masters of love.
The highest expression of love comes in the shape of the fully expressed, self-aware individual who no longer feels separate, or lacking, in any way. This journey to self-realization is one of authenticity, acknowledging, accepting and owning one’s fears. It is the capacity to love and bless our fears, regarding them as life-changing tools in the school of life. With this awareness, we allow ourselves to become unswervingly guided by inner wisdom, moving with the flow our creations, not against them in fear. The spiritual master then becomes one who walks within the temporal world of duality, recognizing that fear is not only an illusion, but a powerfully transformative teacher, providing limitless opportunities for the expansion of self-awareness.
The divine gift of this process lies in the ultimate knowing that we are no longer separated by illusion from one another, but one with the whole of creation, creating with the universal flow. The focus of all our actions will now stem only from love, the true essence of the divine spark of all creation. In spiritual self-mastery, we remember and begin to truly live the highest expression of our selves, reaping all the rewards of creating within the divine template of creation.
“No one acts inappropriately given his or her current model of the world.”
